WDW Park Reservation Update: Feb 25, 2023

Park Reservations Feb 2023

Welcome to the latest installment of our WDW Park Reservation update. As you may recall from last month, WDW Park Reservations dates were pretty much wide open, with the exception April 4th at the Magic Kingdom specifically for Annual Passholders. As we explained, this likely is due to the fact that this is the opening day for Tron Lightcycle Run, so it makes sense that a lot of locals want to be among the first to experience this ride.

What Does Park Reservation Availability Look Like Today?

The good news is that Park Reservation availability is still pretty much wide open. If you are a resort guest or a regular ticket holder, there are no restrictions!

The only bad news is for Annual Passholders. There are some additional days where reservations for the Magic Kingdom for AP holders are no longer available. Those dates are March 6th, 9th, 10th, and 11th. At first, this seemed like an odd collection of dates. To come up with a plausible explanation, I first looked at Florida public school schedules. Perhaps local children are on spring break that week. However, this theory doesn’t pan out. There aren’t any public schools that are on break that week.

Then I remembered that Disney announced Annual Passholder previews for Tron in March. Specifically, they take place on… wait for it… March 4th-6th and 8th-12th! AP holders don’t need a Park Reservation when they make reserve a preview time for Tron. They automatically get one for their preview date. I suspect that Disney is setting aside MK Park Reservations for AP holders to account for the preview. That would certainly explain the lack of availability on these dates!

This also tells me that the MK is likely to be more crowded than usual on these days. So even if you can get a MK reservation by being a regular ticket holder or resort guest, you might want to avoid the MK on these days, or at least be prepared for more crowds. If you do go the Magic Kingdom on these days, you might want to invest in Genie+ to help navigate the crowds.

One Other Bit of Mousekeeping

In January, Disney had announced that AP holders would be able to enter parks after 2pm without a Park Reservation (except MK on weekends). At that time, Disney did not say when this perk would begin. However, this week, Disney finally announced when it would start…. April 18th!

Once again I created a visual summary of available Park Reservations for those who like infographics! Enjoy!

AD:  We hope you enjoyed this post.  If you are coming to Central Florida and need a place to stay, please consider the Encore Magic Villa.  It sleeps up to 12 and features a game room, theater room, themed bedrooms, and private pool… located within a short drive to the Magic!
