This week Disney finally announced the food booth menu for this year’s Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival.<\/a> We were lucky enough to sample a few items during one day visit to WDW last year. Spending one day there was nice but it only left us wanting more<\/a>. Fortunately, our yearly two week WDW trip happens to coincide with the tail end of the festival, so we will get a much longer bite at the apple, so to speak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In anticipation of our upcoming trip, both Banshee and I are putting together a list of the top food items that we are looking forward to trying for the first time this year. This is my list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note that there are a few booths which will be closed by the time we visit. While some of the choices at those booths are appealing, we aren’t going to include them in our lists since we won’t have an opportunity to try them. Also, we aren’t including items that we have already eaten during last year’s trip (sorry Frushi!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Without further ado, here are my choices:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summer Solstice Menu: Sweet Corn Cr\u00e8me Br\u00fbl\u00e9e<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

At first this sounded strange to me. It is a weird mashup to be sure. However, after reflecting on it, I am intrigued. It sounds so weird that it just might be awesome!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BRUNCHCOT: Lox Benedict on Everything Focaccia<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This is described as “Lox Benedict on Everything Focaccia with everything-spiced cream cheese, shallots, crispy capers, and hollandaise”. It sounds like an interesting twist on a classic New York combination. I should note that I grew up in the NYC metro area where bagels and lox is a weekend staple. Therefore, I am a bit of a snob when it comes to this sort of cuisine. However, this really sounds creative and intriguing to me, so I am willing to give it a try. I have a feeling that it can either be amazing evocation of brunch memories or a complete dud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Honey Bee-stro: Chicken and Waffle<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Disney describes this as a “crispy honey-brined chicken and honey sweet cornbread waffle with whipped honey butter and spicy honey.” I love a good chicken and waffles as it is a perfect combination of sweet and savory. I am hoping that the spicy honey will take it to the next level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fleur de Lys: Beignet Caram\u00e9lis\u00e9, Fourr\u00e9 Cr\u00e8me Vanille, Glac\u00e9 au Caramel Fleur de Sel<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

For those who don’t read French, this is a “caramelized beignet filled with vanilla cream and glazed with caramel fleur de sel”. I am not sure what a “caramel fleur de sel” is, but they had me at caramel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joffrey\u2019s Coffee & Tea Company<\/strong>: Melonade<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This is a “tangy blend of Frozen Lemon with a burst of watermelon”. This sounds like a great sweet + tart combination and would hit the spot on a hot summer day. They do have a boozy version with Grey Goose Vodka, but since I am not a huge drinker, I’ll probably go with the non-alcoholic variety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So that’s my list of items that I am looking forward to at this year’s Flower and Garden Festival. Feel free to leave a comment with your choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
